A downloadable sheet that is useful to take with you with all the details you need about the house

Bus
The buses meet each ferry arriving at Matiatia - take the Palm Beach bus (No. 2) and get off on the corner of Hill and Palm Roads. Walk approximately 200m up Bay Road (past the Waiheke Island Resort) and Giles Road is at the top of the hill. If returning to the mainland by bus, the stop is at the intersection of Hill and Bay Roads; find the timetable on the Fullers website. Click on the map image to the right to see the bus timetable and the bus route map. Bus is a good option as the stop is so close to the house.

Handy hints to enjoy your stay

Servicing
Linen and towels are provided at Casa del Mar.

Food
There's a Woolworths supermarket located at Ostend just a few minutes drive from Casa Del Mar which has all the necessities and most of the luxuries you may require

Water Supply
Waiheke runs on rainwater tanks so please conserve water, especially over dry summer months. The water is fine for drinking. (Duringing summer please have short showers etc as tank refills are not cheap)

Sewerage
Waiheke runs on septic tanks so please do not flush anything other than toilet paper and "natural waste" down the toilets - no sanitary products etc.

The system at Casa del Mar redistributes purified water throughout the garden so do not be alarmed if you see small water fountains appearing infrequently amongst the bushes!

Rubbish
Rubbish is collected from the bottom of the driveway on Monday mornings. Please use the regulation red rubbish bags (in the bottom of the pantry). Paper/cardboard and plastic/glass/tins are collected separately..

Phones
There is no landline at Casa del Mar. Mobiles work fine at the house and on most spots around the island with the odd dead area

Gas Bottles
Please feel free to use our barbeque and remember to turn the gas bottle off when you are finished

The kitchen hobs run on gas, the bottle for which is located in the cupboard in the corner of the lounge behind the trapdoor

Should you run out , please use the BBQ gas bottle andlet us know so we can have both refilled.

Amenities

There is a stereo, DVD and TV for your use. Currently we are using the DVD player to play CDs and if you wish to plug a iPod in you will need to bring RCA connectors. We will be getting a dock soon.

Feel free to make use of the outdoor fire on the deck but you will need to get your own firewood. This is available at the supermarket. Please do not use this if the Island is very dry or any fire ban is in place.

Take special note.
Don't fall down the stairs to the downstairs bedroom - and please be careful of the trap door, especially with kids around as it is a bit of a kid magnet! It is extremely heavy and we'd hate it to fall on anyone. It can be tied back but we would prefer you to close it off completely especially if children are in the house. This is up to you but its use is at your own risk.

Our neighbours on both sides are permanent residents - please be courteous to them. To protect their privacy we prefer that you do not stay on the main deck after 10:30pm weeknights and 11:30pm on weekends/holidays - and please keep the stereo noise to an appropriate level as it is powerful. Please do not run it at full volume (we'd prefer not to have the noise control officer called!).

Someone may turn up to mow the lawns and tidy the gardens. Please allow them to do so unless this is disturbing you
